Mark up and Mark down

Markup is a term used in marketing to indicate how much the price of a product is above the cost of producing and distributing the product. It can be expressed as a fixed amount or as a percentage. There are numerous variations of each.

• Assume:
  • Retail list price = RM2500
  • Product cost is RM2000

• MARKUP = price - cost
  • RM2500 - RM2000 = RM500

• Assume the actual selling price was RM2200
  • MARKDOWN = List price - selling price
    • RM2500 - RM2200 = RM300
  • INITIAL MARKUP = list price - cost
    • RM2500 - RM2000 = RM500
  • MAINTAINED MARKUP = sale price - cost
    • RM2200 - RM2000 = RM200

Up and down of oil prices

Oil broke through $110 on March 12,2008,$125 on May 9,2008, $130 on May 21,2008, $135 on May 22,2008, $140 on June 26,2008 and $145 on July 3,2008. On July 11,2008, oil prices rose to a new record of $147.27 following concern over recent Iranian missile test.

However, oil prices declined by more than $20 over the next two weeks, settling around $125 a barrel on July 24,2008,A strong contributor to this price decline was the drop in demand for oil in the US. Miles driven there in a month were down in March-May of 2008 compared to 2007, with the 4% decline in May being the largest drop in history.Oil further dropped down to its lowest price in 3 months, at around $112 a barrel, on August 11,2008, and on September 15, oil price fell below $100 for the first time in seven months.

Bank Discount

Hi!Today i learn about bank discount.it is not a difficult subject,u just have to do some calculation and then you get the answer.For example,if i want to borrow Rm 5000 for a year from my bank that charges a 12% discount rate.The bank will take Rm 5000 x 12%=Rm600 as interest in advance and i will receive Rm 4400 as proceeds.It must be noted that i will have to pay Rm 5000 at the end of one year.In such a case i will receive Rm 5000 but has to pay more than Rm 5000 at the end of one year.So it just not fair but i cannot sue the bank because i did not think it carefully when i borrow the money...

Business Mathematics

Business mathematics is an interesting subject for me because it chalennge my brain about calculation.It is also suitable for me because its teach me how to calculate the difficult question and also an easy question.Business mathematics also make me realize how importants mahtematics in our life because without mathematics we are not able to calculate anything.So,i will try to learn as much as i can about business mathematics.

i just come back from quensbay mall to buy my outfit for this year hari raya and i'm feel sad because it does not came true.my father decided to come another day because it was so crowded at there...i think i will buy it by myself in the next year....

This is my family.Firstly i am from not a big family.just five of us.actually there is six of us but my older sister have died when she was 1 years old because of fever.so now there is only five of us.My father name is Abd Latif Bin Mohd Yusof.he work as a teacher at SMK Teluk Kumbar,Pulau Pinang.My mother does not work,she is a fully housewife.she is caring,nice and full of love like my father.My name is Muhammad Shamsudin Bin Abd Latif.i am 18 years old and still study at UiTM Pulau Pinang.i have 1 younger brothers and 1 younger sister's.my younger brother is 16 years old whereas my younger sister is 15 years old.both of them is still study.SO there is alittle bit story about my family.....
